For a place that expensive I think it's nothing interesting. Service is friendly but cocktails are nothing but so-so and the place has no atmosphere at all. maybe it will improve, who knows. Now let's see if Mandarin does better.

Djig.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1809593565521524498.post-39681558450551501562011-06-07T12:32:48.234-07:002011-06-07T12:32:48.234-07:00Milla - yes, let's make a date! I think this connection to my chosen signature cocktail calls for an identity seeking trip to Paris to visit you and teach the hotel bar staff how to make a proper Pink Lady. xoxoKittyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15943309802245491388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1809593565521524498.post-18240291731679556172011-06-04T09:51:39.261-07:002011-06-04T09:51:39.261-07:00Forest, let's make a date! I've been to a lot of the 5*'s for drinks in Paris. And, there is always the nice side of the service you get in that kind of hotel - but i think they actually have to cater to people in a slightly different way than you might in a place that's just a cocktail bar.Foresthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00982757666919848355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1809593565521524498.post-71952166863520516262011-05-31T02:07:45.375-07:002011-05-31T02:07:45.375-07:00Interesting comment about anticipating customer ne...Interesting comment about anticipating customer needs in an establishment of this level. Ritz seems more of an institution, less 'tendance' Shangri La gives a bit more vibe of people coming to experience the latest instead of one of the longest/most established.

Their martini prep is definitely different. If I remember correctly Ritz keeps their gin in the freezer so there is less dilution & I don't think this was the case with Shangri La.

Also, with the individualized service that Colin is known to give - I found the bar manager's approach at Shangri La different from that. He was really nice & helpful and the service was great - but it didn't feel like it was an experience where they were trying to tailor a cocktail just to each client.Foresthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00982757666919848355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1809593565521524498.post-34588842467533946782011-05-23T05:43:22.679-07:002011-05-23T05:43:22.679-07:00They also made a big to-do about the head bartende...They also made a big to-do about the head bartender coming from the Ritz.
